Vrtnica stolistnica z otoka Ios
Tradicionalno so Grkom všeč dišeče vrtnice.

Centifolia Rose from the Island of Chios
Country of traditional use: Greece
Roses have been popular in Greece since ancient times, but no Greek breeder has yet created a modern Greek rose. The Greeks refer to the modern multi-petal rose as the ‘German rose’.
Traditionally, Greeks prefer the fragrant rose. The country is filled with various old roses with unknown names. The present rose was found on the Island of Chios, situated in the Aegean sea only a few kilometres away from Turkey. Greek rose lovers have propagated this rose, and it is now available for sale in one of the Greek nurseries.
The blossom is extremely fragrant, full-bodied and vibrantly coloured. Unlike most centifolia, it flowers twice, the second time after summer.
The rose variety is a part of the exhibition The EU and Rose.
