Vrtnica ‘Nevada’
Dežela nastanka: Španija
Nevada v španščini pomeni snežna. Po barvni cvetov. Cvetovi imajo v premeru deset centimetrov in se široko, plosko, krožnikasto razprejo. Ob višku cvetenja veliki cvetovi prekrijejo cel grm.

The ‘Nevada’ Rose
Country of origin: Spain
In Spanish, Nevada means “snow-covered”.
This refers to the colour of this variety’s blossoms. The flowers are 10 cm in diameter, and open up widely to become almost flat and saucer-like. At the height of flowering, the entire shrub is covered in blossoms.
Today, the shrub seems unusual, but it was also out of the ordinary at the time of its creation, in 1927. The ‘Nevada’ variety was invented by Pedro Dot (1885-1976), a Catalan and Spanish rosarian. The ‘Nevada’ is his most famous rose.
Pedro Dot learned all about roses at a small nursery, founded by his father in a town called San Feliu de Llobregat. The Dot family nursery, which is dedicated to growing roses, is still open today.
The rose variety is a part of the exhibition The EU and Rose.
